Youth Day 2010 - cheerleaders wanted

The Ministry of Youth and Sports will be celebrating Youth Day on May 15, 2010. CHARM has been asked to coordinate cheerleading performances for the celebrations, which will be in Putrajaya from May 15 to 17.

Teams interested in performing - for free - it's national service ;) - please e-mail us at charmcheerleading@gmail.com.

Sorak i-Metro 2010

Local daily Harian Metro will be holding a futsal carnival this weekend and initially planned to hold a cheerleading competition, which was not sanctioned by CHARM.

Harian Metro has since discussed the matter with us and has agreed to seek sanction for future cheerleading events they want to hold.

Since they do not have certified judges for the event, which is necessary to acquire sanction, CHARM has suggested that routines be judged on non-technical terms - not on jumps, tumbling, stunts, etc. - but more on showmanship.

Teams interested in competing in Sorak I-Metro 2010 may do so and can contact Harian Metro for more details.

As always, if you have any further questions, please e-mail charmcheerleading@gmail.com.

Breaking news: Team Malaysia strikes gold at Aus Cheer

Petaling Jaya (July 11) - Team Malaysia struck gold today at the 2009 AUS Cheer International Cheer, Dance & Aerobic Championships held in Queensland, Australia. The 17-member team won both the Cheer Team and Partner Stunt divisions they competed in and finished 2nd in the Group Stunt division. Another stunt team finished 3rd in Partner Stunt.

The team had to make last-minute adjustments to their Cheer Team routine when one of the flyers, Melissa Campbell, dislocated her arm in two places while executing a back handspring during the team's exhibition performance at the recent Cheer 2009 inter-school competition on July 5.
